ROSS WEATHERSTONE believes ‘walking miracle’ Tyler D’Cruz can inspire Binfield to avoid the tension of a relegation battle and go on to better things this season.

The Moles forward collided with a perimeter fence in his side’s 2-1 victory at Met Police in January, suffering a nasty head injury and having to be treated by club staff and then paramedics before being rushed to hospital.

He had been in and out of consciousness before suffering seizures in the dressing-room and the care and attention he received saved his life, according to boss Weatherstone, whose team won their first Isthmian South Central game of the season that day, D’Cruz netting before the incident.

Former Oxford United defender Weatherstone felt Binfield’s successful bid to stay up – which they achieved by four points after recording eight wins following his arrival at the previously winless club in December – was fuelled by D’Cruz’s plight.
