A POLICE investigation has been launched into "more than five people" who may have helped former Harrods boss Mohamed AI Fayed in his alleged campaign of sexual abuse.

Detectives are looking at individuals surrounding the billionaire businessman who it is claimed could have enabled him to commit crimes from 1977 to 2014.

An internal review is also being carried out by the Metropolitan Police into how the force handled claims about AI Fayed while he was alive.

One alleged victim told the Daily Telegraph the store boss was arrested in 2013 but not charged.

Since the latest publicity around the case, 90 alleged victims have contacted the Met to say they fell prey to the tycoon, who died last year.

This is in addition to 21 alleged victims who had already contacted the force. One is thought to have been just 13 when she claims she was sexually abused.
