Maguire salutes first step on a "positive journey' with Amorim

HARRY MAGUIRE believes that beating champions Manchester City in their own backyard is the first "statement" win of Ruben Amorim's reign.

Manchester United shocked City with a stunning late comeback to triumph 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday night.

The Red Devils were trailing with two minutes of normal time to go.

But they somehow snatched victory from the jaws of defeat thanks to a penalty from Bruno Fernandes and a cool finish by Amad Diallo, who had won the spot-kick two minutes earlier.

It stopped United's losing run in the Premier League extending to three games, and the fact it was a poor match that left plenty more questions than answers - and that they came so close to defeat - was forgotten in the heat of such a momentumshifting final few minutes.

United still have a long journey ahead of them under new head coach Amorim in their quest to get back to the top of English football.
