EVANS HELPS HIM TO STUNNING WIN
Andy Pynn
Show goes on for Murray as he just will not call time

THE only thing he did not throw into relatively sparse crowd inside a relatively humble Court Suzanne Lenglen was himself.

And, for a brief, fistarm-waving, pumping, joy-screaming minute, you thought he might do exactly that.

Somehow Andy Murray and partner Dan Evans had beaten a scratch Japanese duo who had held little hope in this first-round men's doubles match.

It looked as though this win meant as much to Murray as any of his three Grand Slam titles or two Olympic golds.

Somehow, with his painful back and multiple other ailments, Murray dug deep to support Evans and scrape past Kei Nishikori and The never-say-die Taro Daniel victory summed up Murray's career. It was only determination, grit cussedness call it what you will that got him and Evans through to the second round.
