Teen arrested as lad, 16, killed

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death on a hill in a packed park where he had gone to watch a New Year's Eve firework display.

Harry Pitman was among thousands of families and children in the park when he was attacked at 11.40 pm.

The teenager died at the scene shortly before midnight despite the efforts of police and paramedics to save him.

A boy, also 16, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody last night.

Harry was stabbed at Primrose Hill in North London, which is close to the homes of a number of celebrities.

He was the 22nd teenager to be killed in the capital in 2023. Some 18 of those were fatally stabbed.

A family member said yesterday that Harry's mother was "distraught".
