A TRIPLE killer will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the senseless slaying of a pensioner.
Pauline Quinn, 73, was failed by the system when Lawrence Bierton was housed next to her while out on licence after he killed two elderly sisters.
Bierton, 63, showed no emotion as he was described as a "monster" and given a rare whole-life order yesterday.
Judge Mr Justice Pepperall told him: "You must never again be given the opportunity to walk the streets.
"The only just sentence is that you remain in prison for the rest of your life.
Bierton was first jailed for life in 1996 for killing Aileen Dudill, 79, and Elsie Gregory, 73, in Rotherham, South Yorks.
He bludgeoned and smothered the sisters then set their bodies on fire.
