BILLIONAIRE Jim Ratcliffe has been urged to halt the planned closure of the Grangemouth oil refinery as hopes grow that 500 jobs could be saved from the axe.
Trade unions representing workers at the massive oil refinery on the Forth say they have been given no date for a planned closure and there is now a "window of opportunity" to save jobs.
Unite said there was "growing belief" that support from the UK Government could be vital to rescue the plant.
