LUKE HUMPHRIES planted his standard at the summit of Alexandra Palace - and warned Peter 'Snakebite' Wright: "Your trash talk won't work on me."
Reigning champion 'Cool Hand' and two-times winner Wright meet tonight in a mouth-watering clash of the Titans at the Paddy Power PDC World Championship.
Humphries is not falling for the kaleidoscopic crowd-pleaser's mind games after Wright's earlier prediction that Raymond van Barneveld would turf the world No.1 out of the tournament in the third round.
However, that showdown unfortunately never happened because Barney fell at the first hurdle.
And in a waspish dismissal of Wright's psychological warfare, Humphries warned: "If you trash talk someone like Peter has, he has to follow through with it, otherwise he will look the fool."
Wright, nursing a infection, chest safely negotiated a tricky third-round tie against Jermaine Wattimena on Friday night after the big Dutchman needed treatment hospital on Christmas night for slicing his left index finger carving a joint of ham.
