Dubois dropped the former two-time world champion three times before flattening him in the fifth round to defend his heavyweight title at Wembley.
The 27-year-old had battled accusations of being a quitter following his defeats by Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk.
And there had been fears he would freeze in front of a record crowd of 96,000 fans.
But instead Dubois produced the performance of his life to signal the start of a new era in British boxing.
And his promoter Frank Warren (above) said: "He is the big thing.
