Brave face from Putin as Russian forces die on 'static' frontline

VLADIMIR PUTIN today talked up his Ukraine war as more Russian soldiers were dying on "static" frontlines.
The Russian president used an end of year press conference to defend his military campaign. But Sir Alex Younger, the former head of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, stressed that the conflict had seen an estimated 315,000 Russian soldiers killed or injured and that the frontlines were now "entirely static".
