CHELSEA hope to complete the signing of one of their two main defensive targets this week, as they continue negotiations over Nathan Ake and Matthijs de Ligt.
The Blues are also considering a move for Cristiano Ronaldo amid uncertainty over his future at Manchester United, but the need to sign at least one new centre-back is a priority for Thomas Tuchel before the squad fly to America on Saturday for their pre-season tour.
Chelsea need to rebuild their defence this summer after losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers and want to act swiftly on Dutch defenders Ake and De Ligt.
Discussions regarding a return to Stamford Bridge for Ake are thought to be more advanced.
