Security forces shot dead at least 10 Maoists in an encounter in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, officers familiar with the matter said, taking the number of rebels killed in the state this year to 207 amid an uptick in anti-Left Wing Extremism (LWE) operations.
The gunfight broke out after a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a search operation on Thursday night in a forest within the jurisdiction of the Bhejji police station, Bastar's inspector general (IG) of police Sunderaj P said.
