THE vicious stabbing of a 62-year-old man on supermarket car park is being treated as attempted murder.
But detectives as yet have no clear motive for the attack in which the victim was stabbed four times.
It was initially thought the man may have been injured during an attempted robbery as he walked to his car with bags of shopping. But nothing was stolen during the incident and the violence used was excessive.
The incident happened at about 4.30 pm on Tuesday as the victim left Aldi at Salford Precinct.
It came just two weeks after 31-year-old Tyron Riley was stabbed to death in nearby Clarendon Park.
