'If I can return from death, I can help team'

A FOOTBALLER who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in bed and ended up in a coma has made an emotional return to the pitch after just six months - notching up his 100th club appearance in the process.

Huge cheers greeted the introduction of FC United of Manchester's Adam 'Doddy' Dodd as a 70th-minute substitute during the 2-2 draw with Whitby Town last weekend.

And he's revealed he now has a signed shirt given to him by Manchester United's Christian Eriksen who had a cardiac arrest playing for Denmark at Euro 2020 before also returning to play again - hanging on the wall at his home.

Adam, 29, described the playmaker midfielder as an 'inspiration' to him as he revealed the extent of his gruelling battle back to fitness, which included developing pneumonia and pleurisy.
