Sudeh Cheraghi-Sohi was found dead outside her home by her partner an hour after leaving, an inquest heard.
Mum-of-two Sudeh worked as a research fellow at The University of Manchester.
Family, friends and colleagues say they have been left shocked and saddened by her death.
Her mum, Diane, described Sudeh as a 'wonderful and muchcherished daughter' whose loss had 'left a huge void in all our lives that can never be filled. We are all beyond heartbroken! Friends described Sudeh as kind, thoughtful, fun, passionate, gifted, inspirational and a competitive sportswoman in volleyball and softball.
