Bafana Bafana will be entering the Fifa World Cup stage for the first time since their last appearance 16 years ago, and will once again be giving football fans around the world a taste and feel of what the 2026 World Cup in the Americas will be all about.

South Africa take on co-hosts Mexico in their opening Group A match at the Estadio Banorte, known as the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City at 9pm SA time.

Bafana’s road to qualifying for the global showpiece was not as smooth as it was supposed to be, as the team found itself at risk of not qualifying due to the unprecedented administrative error involving Teboho Mokoena.
