This new line, will pass through two districts of Maharashtra and four of Madhya Pradesh, and bring several unconnected areas on the rail map.
The project, which would cost Rs 18,036 crore and is scheduled to be completed by 2028-29, was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in a meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The project will also generate 102 lakh man-days of direct employment.
