Meet the scaffolder crowned 'Mr Devon'

Euan Paterson took the title after coming first in three separate categories of the competition at the premier bodybuilding event.

In his day job, Euan is a scaffolder at JEM Scaffolding. He's been working for the company for 20 years and he says that bodybuilding helps him carry out his manual job.

Euan, aged 40, took on 16 weeks of intensive training before the competition with the help of his personal trainer, Andy Jackson who owns and runs Jackson's Gym - a 24-hour bodybuilding gym in Faraday Mill in Cattedown. The 40-year-old bodybuilder also had to make some major changes to his diet to prepare himself for the show.

Speaking about his preparations, Euan said: "I'm a fussy eater, pizza and ice cream is usually my favourite. So I had to take on 16 weeks of clean eating and looking after my diet. Nothing too extreme, just 16 weeks of slowly dropping weight and getting myself in position. That meant hard training, dieting and getting everything ready. Then, for the stage I had to learn all the poses. I had my standard poses that they use to judge you on."
