THUG BROKE INTO WOMAN'S HOME BUT WON'T SPEND LONGER IN PRISON
A MAN serving a jail sentence for threatening a shopkeeper with a hammer has been handed another jail sentence for assault and criminal damage – but won't spend any extra time in prison.
Daniel Cunningham, 35, pleaded guilty on November 4 last year to one count of common assault and one of criminal damage. He appeared at Plymouth Crown Court via video link from HMP Erlestoke where he is serving a 32-month term for the robbery of Dawns Store in Cecil Street, Stonehouse on April 10 last year.
Prosecutor Brian Fitzherbert told the court police received a 999 call at around 12.45am on February 3, 2024, from a woman. However, before an operator reached her she hung up. A recording of her waiting was acquired and in the background a man could be heard "shouting and screaming".
Mr Fitzherbert told the court the words "where is he?" could be heard shouted with a woman responding "there's no one here", to which the man shouted back "f***ing bull****" followed by banging and crashing.
