Major traffic snarls at Delhi border

THOUSANDS of commuters faced severe disruptions on Wednesday as Uttar Pradesh police sealed off the Delhi-Noida Expressway to prevent a Congress delegation from reaching riot-hit Sambhal.

Police erected barricades across the national highway, with hundreds of officers stationed to block any attempt by politicians to enter.

This caused massive traffic jams, with vehicles backed up for several kilometers.

"My daughter has an exam in Meerut at 1 pm. I've been stuck in traffic for two hours. If politicians want to protest, they can do so on the side of the road. Why should the public suffer?," an irked commuter told this newspaper.
