EAM raises US lethal action, Rubio cites blockade breach

EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday raised the killing of three Indian mariners in a US military strike on a merchant vessel in the Gulf of Oman with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, saying “such lethal actions against commercial shipping are not justified.”
The US, however, signalled no change in its position, with the State Department readout of the call saying Rubio underscored that violations of the US blockade and the illicit transport of Iranian oil “will not be tolerated.”
