THE DESIRE TO TRAVEL - Suhas Nalawade
Asian Photography
|August 20222
Photography allows us to freeze tiny, ephemeral moments in time and make them everlasting. Whereas the subject of a painting may be required to wait for hours or even days, the subject of a photograph may be unaware that the photograph is being taken. Suhas is a pharmaceutical businessman from India who is also a keen traveller and photographer. His passion for photography keeps him seeing the world and capturing the uniqueness in his own style. Nature's elements inspire him much, and this is reflected in his photographs. Through his vision, he expresses emotions, behaviours, and cultural aspects. He has appeared on a number of national and international platforms. Asian Photography Magazine will never overlook such skill. So, in this interview, we spoke with Suhas Nalawade about his personal experience and work flow. Excerpts:
What inspired you to specialise in travel photography?
I have been fascinated by vibrant culture & traditions since childhood as India itself has a lot of diversity. My travels to south-east Asian countries, which are very rich in culture, and beautiful landscapes added to my fascination. I like to shoot people in their native costumes, in rural surroundings, where the originality still remains. Vibrant cultural diversity around the world inspires me to travel and showcase it.
What would you describe as your travel photography style?
As a traveller, I always enjoy the journey more than the final destination. There should always be memories behind every photo you take which takes you back to that place. Photographs don’t speak of the total experience of that place. I always try to put the essence of that place, moment in my frame .
Do you have any favourite or inspiring photographers from any genre?
I don't have any specific favourites. There are so many photographs, not photographers in particular, from which I get inspiration. Nature is my biggest inspiration. Colour combinations, light, landscape, I think nature has it all. Just listen to it.
What was your defining moment in photography?

The Rise of Street Couture Photography
Street couture photography has taken over fashion culture in a way few trends have before. It blends high fashion with real world grit, turning sidewalks into runways and everyday people into style subjects. This shift did not happen overnight. It grew from a mix of social media influence, shifting brand priorities, and a global appetite for authenticity. What used to be a niche style is now a major force shaping how fashion is captured, consumed, and imagined.
