Ralph Beckett
Trainer Ralph Beckett has excelled with high-class fillies over the years and he might have another on his hands, in the shape of Bluestocking, who won by 11 lengths on her racecourse debut in late-September. Ridden relatively patiently over a mile at Salisbury, the daughter of Camelot raced quite keenly in the early part of the contest, but travelled nicely into the race and although the response wasn’t immediate (looked green when first asked), she picked up really well once racing against the far side rail, to win going away. Entered in the 1000 Guineas, her trainer suggested after that debut success that she would likely return to action in an Oaks trial and given how balanced she looked coming down the hill, perhaps she will be one for Chester or Lingfield. She is currently a general 20-1 shot for the Epsom Classic and could be into single figures, if making a successful reappearance.
