Lisa had a touch of the Monday blues as she drove along the road that led to the office building where she worked. She enjoyed her job as a marketing manager for a soft drinks brand, but this morning she had just wanted to stay in bed next to her husband Jack, who had retired early at the age of 57.
She sighed as the traffic ahead ground to a halt at another red traffic light. It started to rain, just drizzle, but it did nothing to lift her mood.
She glanced at the row of commuters sitting at the bus stop just a few feet away.
They all looked as impressed as she was by the sudden turn in the weather.
A woman caught Lisa's eye. She was sitting on the red plastic bench beneath the bus shelter, squeezed between two men.
Lisa studied her slightly plump face, the short dark hair, wondering why someone so nondescript had stood out from the crowd.
Then it hit her... Elizabeth Wittingford! She was 30 odd years older than when Lisa had last seen her, but it was definitely her. The girl who had made her last year at secondary school a nightmare.
Elizabeth Wittingford, one of the prettiest girls in school but also one of the nastiest.
Elizabeth must have sensed someone staring and glanced up, looking straight at Lisa. Horns sounded behind her and Lisa realised the traffic light had turned green and the car in front was now several yards ahead.
She sped off, glancing only once in the rear-view mirror at Elizabeth, who was once again looking at the ground.
'I must have mentioned her before!' snapped Lisa, between mouthfuls of pasta.
