Actor Vicky McClure on returning to her role as Lana Washington in ITV's Trigger Point
It's important TO SHOW THE REAL DEAL'

Hello Vicky, congratulations on the success of series one and the show returning for a second series. How did that feel?

I was thrilled – it’s always a gamble putting out a new show with such a big concept like Trigger Point, but I had a lot of confidence in the series because I thought the script was strong and the characters were great.

There were lots of returning cast and crew so when we stepped on set we were all excited to see each other. It’s a lot of fun to make. However, there was a heavy load to come back with because of what happened to Lana’s character in series one. We had to make sure that we took that on board and honoured all of those awful scenarios and losses that she had.

How would you describe the show?

It’s non-stop, it is edge of your seat. It’s entertaining television and that’s exactly what we’re trying to achieve.

Not only do you play the lead character, Lana Washington, you’re also an executive producer on Trigger Point. What was that like going into season two?

For me it was just a case of elevating what we already had, because you don’t want to stray too far from what people liked about the show the first time round.

When it comes to exec producing, I want to be able to input into the script and the day-to-day of a set, making sure everyone’s happy. I’m not just doing it for the credit, it is something I’m really passionate about.

Did you get any advice from official expos [explosives officers]?
