As son Matty's success goes from strength to strength, Denise Welch reveals how substance abuse shaped her family

She's a household name and he's a global superstar, but Denise Welch and son Matty Healy have both struggled with addiction.

Now, Denise, who gave up alcohol in 2012, has admitted she feels immense guilt that her son ended up facing the same problems she did, saying, 'I wasn't aware of everything I did when I was drinking, or how the things he'd seen and I'd done had affected him. Indeed, Matty has confessed that his adolescence left him really traumatised', and described his heroin addiction as 'walking a very, very thin line.
