King Charles III is raring and ready to go, and it's no surprise, given he's spent 73 years as the monarch-in-waiting.
Royal sources tell Woman's Day that in recent years, he has been "consumed by thoughts of how to take the monarchy forward" while keeping his mother front of mind. The Queen is said to have spent the past two decades acting as something of an instructor for Charles, who at long last has ascended the throne.
In the week since Her Majesty passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle, with Charles by her side, the new King has been riding waves of mixed emotions.
"He is grieving deeply for his mum," says the source. "She has been a constant in all our lives, but especially his. Charles has a huge job ahead of him and she would have wanted him to get on with things."
