I don’t walk my dog; my dog walks me!” Dog owners often make this joke, but it’s actually a bit sad. Unfortunately, many dogs are not trained to walk on a lead, which can make walks very unpleasant for an owner who inevitably feels that they have no control over what happens. Often such an owner will simply give up and rather not take the dog for a walk – what a pity! Avoid this from happening by teaching your puppy from a young age to walk with you without pulling on the lead.
Training your puppy to walk on a lead
Remember that training should always be fun. Keep your training sessions short, and start out by making it easy for the puppy to get it right – training is not a competition or a race against time. In fact, it is the one time when you need to be as patient as possible.
