The Peloponnese is the largest peninsula in Greece. It is connected to the mainland by the famous Corinth canal. This region is filled with sun-kissed beaches, historical sites, vibrant cities, picturesque villages, snow-capped mountains and olive tree fields. Indeed, Greece is not only about its famous islands. This Mediterranean country hides a lot of gems in the legendary Peloponnese.
The most pleasing way to explore the Greek peninsula is by car, so I took an a one-week road trip with my dog Shark and my two best friends in early summer. This destination is delightful in every season though, especially in fall. The Peloponnese hosts many significant archeological sites. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed inside them. Since I was traveling with my friends, we made arrangements to visit our favorite places in turn to stay with my dog outside. Among the must-see attractions figure Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, Mystras, a former Byzantine capital, and the Theatre ofEpidavros, one of the best-preserved ancient Greek structures in the country.
