TAMIYA GF-01TR MONSTER BEETLE TRAIL

When Tamiya debuted the original Monster Beetle in 1986, it was yet another big hit for the brand. The lifted Baja-bug look is now iconic, and the big Beetle has remained popular as a rerelease. Now Tamiya has a completely new version of the Monster Beetle to entice RC’ers. This time, it’s on the GF-01 4X4 chassis—but with a twist: It’s now got portal hubs for higher ground clearance and lower gearing, earning this bug the name “Monster Beetle Trail” and the chassis designation GF-01TR. Now 1/14 scale, the new Monster Beetle is a little smaller than the OG and gets an all-new “hard” body with engine detailing and molded-in color, so you can skip painting. It’s a fun build and a different way to hit the trail. Let’s check it out.
