Inside Mumbai’s snazzy co-working and leisure club, The A, a members-only space with a built-in prohibition-style speakeasy and a virtual reality zone
Mumbai’s affluent, white-collar workforce and ‘cool’ start-up kids now have a new place to hang out at, both during and after work. No, it’s not another stuffy gymkhana, cramped co-working space or crowded Starbucks. The A club in Lower Parel hopes to carve a new leisure-meets-work club niche.
Sprawling over 40,000 sq ft on the eighth floor of One India bulls Centre, The A is a private members-only club founded by Alkesh Tandon, Founder and Executive Director of DoIT Smart Hospitality; and Romil Ratra, hotelier and CEO, The Apex Clubs (I) Pvt. Ltd. The idea is to build and nurture a community of artists, collaborators, innovators and ideators.
The A club is home to a gym, two spa suites, a Japanese Iyashi Dome, a secret speakeasy bar, a virtual reality zone, a quiet zone a.k.a the Sanctuary, a Roasted Today brew lab, multiple F&B verticals and 10 intimate co-working studios and spaces. Designated lifts that don’t stop on any other floors of the building bring members to the contemporary space.
“The ethos is to be collaborative. We’ve built a seamless platform where all the spaces harmoniously blend and merge into each other,” says Ratra.
