The YouTube trio Tree Potatoes spills on how to make videos that will take root and bloom into a viral success.
#1: BE RELATABLE
JANICE CHIANG:
Make your videos relatable. If it’s about something people encounter on a daily basis, they’ll tend to share that video. For example, we did a video on differences in a relationship during the dating and marriage phases. People could relate like, “Yeah, my husband used to treat me this way when we were dating and now it’s different.” Or that video we did about the different types of MRT commuters. You do see people like that on the train when you travel. And people will share or tag their friends like, “Hey, this is you!”
AARON KHOO: We did a video about romance in movies versus real life. That was really popular ’cos when you watch romantic scenes in movies, they’re so different from what actually happens in real life. You don’t run to the airport to find the girl waiting right there for you. Firstly, the airport’s in Changi, so if you’re running to Changi, good luck. Secondly, by the time you get there, you probably won’t even be in time to see her.
#2: LOVE YOURSELF
