Is the local showbiz scene big enough for both JAYLEY and HAYLEY WOO to twin and win? We compare and contrast.
Jayley and Hayley Woo are duking it out in a full-on shouting match, the ruckus rumbling through the (previously) serene surrounds of the café. And we’re caught right in the middle of the crossfire.
“I’ll go on a diet if I get to work with Eddie Peng!” Hayley yells at Jayley as she furtively tries to finish a deep-fried spring roll in her hands.
“Just imagine that it’s gonna happen. You don’t know when the opportunity will come!” shrieks Jayley, who’s 1.65m tall, tips the scales at 52kg, and has not touched a single spring roll or samosa on the table.
“Fine! I’ll eat salad for dinner later!” huffs the 1.67m tall, 55kg Hayley.
“Argh! It’s not just about one meal! It’s in the long run!” Jayley yells back, her arms flailing in exasperation.
“I’m cutting down on food already. JUST GIVE ME SOME TIME!” Hayley hollers back, the loudest the soft-spoken lass has been the entire afternoon we’ve been hanging out for today’s cover shoot.
Jayley turns to us, regains her composure, and asks: “You see how innocent and naïve she is?”
We can’t imagine what a spat over the remote control is like back in their five-room flat in Jurong. But that’s the Woo sisters (Woo-sters?) in a nutshell. They may be at each other’s throats over a harmless question from a reporter about their weight and diets one moment. But in the next minute, they’d be back to merrily squealing about clothes, their grades (“Both of us are equally stupid and lazy,” admits Jayley) and their darling Pomeranian, Buibui... as if they hadn’t just been this close to a catfight.
