The Dark Knight is comic books’ preeminent crime-fighter. (So he thinks.) And he is building on his popularity, cementing his stature this week with the 3D computer-animated comedy adventure The LEGO® Batman Movie.
The LEGO® Movie, the first feature film constructed from Lego plastic toy bricks, was released to unanimous acclaim and a worldwide box-office haul of US$469 million (S$666.31 mil).
Batman would like to take credit for that 2014 success as the self-described leading man. Hence his own multiplex spin-off this week, The LEGO® Batman Movie, where the Dark Knight finds his lone vigilante act tested: Batman must learn to trust if he is to save Gotham City from a hostile takeover by the Joker.
The orphan Dick Grayson is voiced by Michael Cera and Rosario Dawson is new police commissioner Barbara Gordon, the two debuting as Batman’s partners in crime-fighting with Will Arnett back in his starring role under original director Chris McKay. We introduce the intrepid team as they venture their first joint mission.
BATMAN
A night-stalking, crime-fighting vigilante and heavy-metal rapping machine. Superhero. Master Builder. Batman is all this and much more. Equipped with a utility belt packed with Batarangs, grappling guns and other useful inventions and backed by a Batcave full of cutting-edge vehicles and Batsuits for every occasion, Batman has sworn to forever defend Gotham City against all crooks and villains. Batman always works alone. He also has a really sweet music career going — thanks for asking.
Awesomeness: 11/10
Bat-fact: Thinks his roommate, Bruce Wayne, is a super-cool guy.
So, you’re the No. 1 superhero in Gotham City?
