The stand-up comedian on feeling nostalgic hosting the retro-reality show Throwback: Balik Kampong and why he isn’t a 24/7 joker.
BEST KNOWN AS… the Singaporean stand-up comedian who’s hosted the Ch 5 variety show #50 Ways To Be A Singaporean and the Suria talk show AH! Adam & Hawa. In July, he performed his first solo gig In Fuzz We Trust. WHAT’S HE UP TO NOW: Fuzz, whose real name is Muhammad Fadzri Abdul Rashid, and Lush 99.5FM’s Rosalyn ‘Rozz’ Lee are back hosting the second season of Ch 5’s Throwback: Balik Kampong, the social experiment-cum-game show where three families try to live in a remote town without modern amenities. Fuzz will also be in the comedy stage show Happy Ever Laughter at the Esplanade, starting Oct 26.
8 DAYS: This is your second tour as the host of Throwback: Balik Kampong. How’re your kampong survival skills so far?
FAKKAH FUZZ: My kampong skills are the same as last year: I can’t do anything in a kampong. I’m not made to survive in one. Last season, I learnt something which wasn’t really applicable in present-day Singapore — I learned to make roofing from coconut leaves. I also made brushes out of coconut husks. That also wasn’t really applicable, especially when you live near an NTUC supermarket. At least I now know how to cut open a coconut.
