It’s Jamie Yeo and her seven-year old daughter alysia against the world. Well, for this photo shoot, anyway. The 39-year-old dj and host tells celine tan about the single mum life, and how a new man arrived and made it all better.
Their place, tastefully done up mostly in shades of white and grey, which you may have caught glimpses of in Jamie’s Instagram, @iamjamieyeo, is cosy and clean. A white/ grey schnauzer-poodle mix wanders around the apartment. We joke that the dog matches the décor. Jamie jests that it was a prerequisite. “If you want to date me, your dog has to match my interior?” That’s a first. You see, Ranulph the pooch isn’t Jamie’s dog. If you’re a loyal 8 DAYS reader, you may remember that Jamie and her beloved Jack Russell, Fudgie, were on our cover together eight years ago. Fudgie passed on last year at the grand old age of 15.
The new canine’s daddy is, of course, Jamie’s new man, 38-year-old British expat Rupert. The consultant at a corporate risk management company, whom Jamie has been dating for about seven months, moved in — sorta — three months into the relationship, and Ranulph came with. We don’t get to meet Rupert, but there are several photos of him in the apartment. If you didn’t know better, you’d think, well, that Jamie, Rupert and Alysia were a family. As in, biologically.
But back to the 95 per cent. It’s pretty impressive, to be happy 95 per cent of the time (we’re thinking most people hover at 50 to 80). The subtext here, of course, is the five per cent.
