They are local showbiz’s most un-secret secret couple. But after months of self doubt (Jeffrey's), hesitation (also Jeffrey), and one very public kiss (again, courtesy of Jeffrey), FELICIA CHIN and JEFFREY XU are finally ready to open up about their 10-month relationship in their first shoot and interview together.
Unlike other great love stories, Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu’s romance did not start with a kiss. Or rather, that kiss. You know, that headline-grabbing peck on the cheek at the Star Awards in April. The one that made us wonder if Jeff’s unexpected display of affection made Feli uncomfortable. (No, really. Feli’s face was a meme-worthy mix of bashfulness and mortification.) It was the kiss that made us go, “Oh no, he’s coming on way too strong,” as he leaned in eagerly, a tad too eagerly, to plant a wet one. Dude, we know you like her, but give a girl some space.
Those were all sound concerns then. But looking back, were they necessary? Nope.
You see, the girl was already Jeffrey’s.
Okay, let us make that clearer.
Felicia Chin and Jeffrey Xu have been dating since last December. December 12, to be exact. Four months before the Star Awards. Way before he declared to the media that he was into her and that he was “waiting for her response” to be his girlfriend.
We can’t say that we’re surprised. After all, our colleague’s sister saw them kissing in June. On an escalator. At Plaza Singapura. On a Sunday evening.
Also, rumours that they’re a couple have been circulating since February after a YES 933FM jock spotted them out on a date. Rumours they firmly denied, insisting that they were “good friends”. But we all know what “good friends” means. Right, Jesseca and Jeremy, Shane and Kimberly?
But today, Felicia, 31, and Jeffrey, 28, are finally ready to open up about their relationship. Their sweet, we-totally saw-it-coming, but-you-may-have-some-explain in’-to-do relationship. “We could have just said we started [going out] two, three months ago, but we just really want to be honest,” says Feli, with a worried smile.
