The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has earmarked 1,000 acres in Gautam Budh Nagar for the proposed Film City. The anticipated setup will have indoor and outdoor shooting areas. The idea is to create sets of villages, forts, historical places and urban and rural environments from India and abroad. The setup will also have dedicated blue screen and green screen areas, pre and post-production labs, SFX studios, an animation studio and a dedicated data centre. The aim is to provide a comprehensive filmmaking experience - a film unit can enter with just the cast and crew and return with a finished product. To facilitate that, there will be five-star, three-star and budget hotels erected on the premises. The proposed site is 50 kilometers away from the national capital and five kilometres from Jewar, where the construction of the country’s biggest international airport with an aviation hub is underway. Later on, the Film City would have a film school, a film museum and entertainment rides, which would be on par with those offered by the Universal Studios. Filmfare conducted a virtual panel discussion on Film Destination UP and the Proposed Film City, where stalwarts like directors Rajiv Menon, Nikkhil Advani, Amit Sharma, Amar Kaushik, Neeraj Ghaywan, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, actor Malvika Mohanan and Aparna Purohit, head Amazon India Originals, participated. Presenting some of the highlights of the proposed film city, interspersed with thoughts of the esteemed panellists.
