RAGHUVENDRA SINGH MEETS TV HOTTIE MOHIT RAINA, WHO WON HEARTS IN URI: THE SURGICAL STRIKE

Raghuvendra Singh
How's The Josh!

The josh and jubilation is more than evident in his tone. Mohit Raina’s portrayal of Major Karan Kashyap in Uri: The Surgical Strike, the first blockbuster of 2019, has won him accolades. In response to a terrorist attack on an army camp in Uri in Jammu & Kashmir on September 18, 2016, the Indian Army conducted a surgical strike on militant camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) 11 days later. Director Aditya Dhar presented a cinematic version of this real-life operation in his debut film Uri.

Born and bred in Jammu, Mohit has seen the jawans at close quarters and is aware of the tough conditions they face. In fact, after the Kargil war, young Mohit wanted to join the army but being short-sighted he was not qualified for it. By playing an army-man on screen, life somewhere has come a full circle for him. As Captain Karan Kashyap, who loses his life in the ambush at Uri, Mohit’s portrayal was brief but moving. “People said, ‘We connected with your character even though the screen time was limited. For an actor, such a compliment means a lot,” he says. “We knew we were making a film with which the audiences would connect. But this amount of love is unimaginable,” he adds.
