Films and family rule Janhvi Kapoor’s heart and mind. Rahul Gangwani catches up with b-town’s latest sweetheart
In her early 20s, Janhvi Kapoor has already witnessed a bipolar world. Nurtured princess-like by superstar mom, the late Sridevi, Janhvi was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth. And when she was just at the threshold of a promising career, tragedy struck. She lost her mother. Overnight she grew up. With Dhadak doing well, the floodgates have opened for her. She’s now part of Karan Johar’s directorial Takht, which boasts of a line-up of stars. On the personal front, her bonds with her siblings and cousins have deepened. She values the fame that she seems to have easily inherited just as she cherishes the family, which has embraced her. She may be the toast of tinsel world, the pride of the red carpet but all that Janhvi wishes is to do her family proud…

Movies are a huge part of my life. They have shaped my moral compass and the way I look at the world. Everything I know, I’ve learnt through films. That’s why I was just dying to be an artiste and entertain people. That’s my only purpose. There’s nothing else apart from acting.
IS THAT WHY YOU JOINED THE ACTING SCHOOL ABROAD?
