Sonakshi Sinha is a work in progress… actor, singer and action queen. Rahul Gangwani meets the actress who believes in breaking myths and creating her own.
She’s no longer a punching bag for the body shaming crowd. She’s moved on from being the brand ambassador of masala movies. She’s even made curves look sexy in an age when thin is in. Sonakshi Sinha is her own person. She has been the producer’s favourite, cast her in your film and you're guaranteed 100 crores. But she’s changed all that. She’s decided to take it easy. She’s taking out more time to explore new vocations and experiences. Sonakshi want a life more than just films. So in 2015, after Tevar fizzled out at the box-office, she took to various other opportunities. From live concerts to judging reality shows, she made her presence felt. She even conquered the social media in style. From giving it back to her trolls on Twitter to her personal and interesting Snapchat stories to the funniest Dubsmash videos, she is a rage in the online world. And then, she even cut her first single - Aaj mood ishqholic hai, which has more than five million hits on YouTube alone.
The New Year looks promising. AR Murgadoss’ Akira in particular is making all the right noise. It’s slated to put Sonakshi back on the stellar reviews circuit. And her fashion and fitness critics are running for cover. The new confidence she flaunts while shooting them down on public platforms is phenomenal. She’s one actress who’s gone through a literal overhaul in the past few months. She’s come out energised, confident and positive. She’s unapologetic about everything she does. She jumps at the idea of her films earning crores. And she’s proud that commoners in the heartland of India, recognise her as a big matinee star. This is Sonakshi Sinha unplugged...
