The Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2021 were held at Kolkata on March 17 this year. The industry favoured us with a huge turnout despite the latent threat of the coronavirus. His performance in his debut film, Mrinal Sen's Interview (1971), fetched him the Best Actor trophy at the prestigious Karlovy Vary festival. Ranjit Mallick also worked with Satyajit Ray's Shakha Proshakha (1990), where again his performance got praised. Ranjit Mallick was born on September 28, 1944 in Kolkata.
