Since bursting on to the music scene 10 years ago, The Overtones have done it all with their slick harmonies and flawless dance moves. They’ve made earning platinum record sales, releasing six studio albums and staging sold-out tours look easy.
In 2021, fans will be celebrating the past decade with Mike Crawshaw, 40, Darren ‘Daz’ Everest, 39, Mark Franks, 43, and Jay James, 37, for their 10 Year Anniversary Tour.
Here, we chat with Mike and their newest member and 2014 X Factor finalist Jay about getting back on the road where they belong with their new album and biggest tour yet.
Congrats on your anniversary! How are you feeling?
Mike: Well, when we were first releasing music in quite a cut-throat industry, who would have thought 10 years ago that we’d still be here recording music and hitting the road touring? We’ve grafted every day, so it’s heartwarming, but that all stems from loads of hard work.
Jay: It is tricky to keep that longevity within the music industry, to sell records, to sell tickets and that’s something I’ve always admired about the boys. Their work ethic is ridiculous. But it’s never really been about fame for the boys. They just want to do music, so it’s a real privilege to be with the boys and become a part of that legacy.
What can we expect from your tour?
Jay: We’re just mega excited about this year. It’s been a shit 2020. We are the boys who are known for bringing the feel-good, so we’re all really excited to bring that feel-good back.
