MEGHAN MARKLE may soon be served. In late December, the lawyer representing Virginia Roberts Giuffre in her civil lawsuit against Prince Harry's uncle Prince Andrew suggested he might call the Duchess to testify in the case, in which Giuffre accuses the royal of sexually assaulting her when she was 17 (the Prince, 61, denies the allegations). “She is somebody who obviously, at least for a period of time, was a close associate of Prince Andrew,” said attorney David Boies of Meghan, 40. “Because of her past association with him, may very well have important knowledge, and will certainly have some knowledge.” Even more key, unlike Andrew, who has been hiding out in the U.K., Meghan lives in the U.S., where, added Bois, “We have jurisdiction over her."
That's exactly what worries the royal family. The mixed-raced Meghan, who wed Harry in May 2018, has famously charged her in-laws with insensitivity, racism and of cutting her and Harry off financially when they stepped back from their senior roles and moved to the U.S. Now, sources tell Star, “Many high-placed people at the Palace fear that Meghan will have an opportunity to punish the royals for the misery they caused her.” Meghan's estranged sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is especially worried about a courtroom takedown. “Meghan has a tit-for-tat attitude, and exposing the royals would be the ultimate revenge,” adds a different source. “Kate is scared Meghan will drag her name up during the trial to tarnish her image."
