EVA MENDES: 'My family comes first'

She may not be an avid user and prefers to keep her private life off Instagram, but Eva Mendes has been forced to defend her decision to dial back from social media even further. The 46-year-old took to Instagram on January 24 to reveal her daughter – she shares Esmeralda, 6, and Amada, 4, with partner Ryan Gosling – recently called her out for her phone habits.

“I haven’t posted lately because my little one told me I was on the phone too much,” Mendes shared. “I could tell she was taking it personally. And she’s a kid, of course she’d take it personally. They take things personally unless we go out of our way to make it clear to them it’s not personal.” After admitting the pair had a “good talk”, the actress said she’d now taken steps to make her family a priority.

“I apologised and I promised her I’d be mindful,” she added. “I realised that just because I’m always home with them it doesn’t mean I’m always present.”
