Christmas may look a little different this year with families unable to see loved ones due to the pandemic, but Goldie Hawn is ensuring it’s still a merry holiday by lifting spirits with her new festive film. The 75-year-old Hollywood icon is returning as Mrs Claus alongside partner Kurt Russell, 69, who plays Santa, in The Christmas Chronicles 2.

Not only will the comedy raise a few smiles but also a few temperatures, with Hawn being the first to admit her man makes one hot Mr Claus! “As Santa, he’s sexy because of the way he acts and feels as the character,” she explains.

Playing Russell’s love interest isn’t new to Hawn, of course. It’s a role she’s had plenty of experience at in real life with the two stars still very much in love since first pairing up 37 years ago. Now with six grandchildren and another on the way, Hawn is glad to be able to share what she and Russell do for a living with the youngest in their family.

Here, Hawn talks dressing up as Mrs Claus, spreading some much needed magic and joy for the holidays and how she’s laughing, jumping and binge-watching her way through some hard times …

What made you want to play Mrs Claus?

Well, I loved the first movie, which I had a small cameo in, and I love Kurt as Santa. It also just felt right to play a role like Mrs Claus at this time of my life, as a grandmother. It’s a gift to personify such a kind-hearted, positive and magical person, especially right now.

Your grandchildren must love having Mr and Mrs Claus as grandparents …
