AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF SEX-TRAFFICKING CRIMES, THE FORMER HEIRESS GHISLAINE MAXWELL CLAIMS SHE IS THE VICTIM

MY BIGGEST REGRET

Wearing drab blue prison scrubs and ankle shackles, Ghislaine Maxwell looked nothing like the woman she once was – the glamorous media heiress and “partner in crime” to the convicted sex offender and financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

Now, Maxwell will spend the next 20 years in prison herself for the same crimes, after telling a US court that getting involved with Epstein was the “biggest regret of my life”. She added: “I hope my conviction along with my harsh incarceration brings you closure.” But what she failed to actually say was “I am sorry” to her victims, some who were as young as 14 when they were abused.

As the 60-year-old former socialite – who rubbed shoulders with world leaders, the wealthy elite and even a member of the royal family – sat through the three-hour sentencing, she repeatedly touched her hair, sipped water from a cup and occasionally glanced at her three siblings who were seated together as a united show of support for their disgraced sister.
