Anton Lesser on why he loves playing Endeavour’s boss and co-starring with his daughter…
CRIME DRAMA
Endeavour
SUNDAY / ITV / 8.00PM
Detective Sergeant Endeavour Morse’s superior, Chief Superintendent Reginald Bright, is one of TV’s most disciplined bosses. But this week, Bright, played by
Anton Lesser, battles to maintain his stiff upper lip when the merger with Thames Valley causes fresh difficulties for his team.
Here, in an exclusive interview, Anton, 66, tells TV Times why he’s so fond of Bright and reveals the secrets of his glasses and much more besides…
I love playing Bright because… there’s so much going on underneath. He’s not just a thorn in Endeavour’s side, he can be humane and cares about injustice – that’s why he’s in the job. He also cares about his staff and when the merger threatens them, he voices his concerns and we see a lot more vulnerability and soul-searching.
