A new year can instil a sense of optimism and hope, but there’s none of that for poor Leanne.

As the outside world keeps on turning, time stands still for the grieving mum, who’s holed up in her flat, struggling to function in the wake of Oliver’s death.

Physically and mentally exhausted, this week she takes sleeping tablets, desperate for a few minutes’ respite. But it’s of no comfort to Simon, who fears the worst when he finds her out cold on the sofa with a bottle of pills close by.
