THE PET SHOW NEW SUNDAY / ITV / 5.35PM / EP 1 of 8 / FACTUAL
Joanna Page is a ‘dog lover’, while Dermot O’Leary describes himself as ‘a proud cat dad-servant-skivvy’! Now they are teaming up to host The Pet Show, ITV’s pawsome new series celebrating the nation’s love of all creatures great and small.
The eight-parter features heartwarming and inspirational stories, including tales of animals who have displayed incredible acts of heroism and pets with amazing talents, plus advice from the experts on caring for our furry, feathered and scaly friends.
Every week, Dermot and Joanna will also be joined by a celebrity and their dog, who will take part in a Best in Show agility course that showcases their beloved pet’s skills and charm in a bid to top the celeb pooch leaderboard.
Here, This Morning presenter Dermot, 48, and Gavin & Stacey star Joanna, 44, tell us why they believe this is a dream job...
How would you describe this new series?
DERMOT It’s a love letter to our nation’s favourite friends. It’s like Top Gear, but for animals!
JOANNA It’s not like anything that’s been done before. We’ve got exotic fish, 20-stone pigs that live in the house, and loads of goats! We travel around the UK chatting to different people, and then Dermot and I are in the studio, too, interviewing lots of people and different celebrities. We also have the wonderful ‘Pet of the Year’ awards plus some completely insane segments.
